A6 Spreadsheet Analysis with Trailer is the first of the two apex assignments in IS101-3022, Fall 2020.
The lion's share of the assignment entices students to put into practice what they learned from the Excel lessons and projects while the trailer portion challenges students to quantitative and qualitative analyze a story from both perspectives.
The hitch between the cab and the trailer is http://testtube.nfb.ca/ (quantitative = exponential, qualitative = growth). The link above leads to the original Test Tube with David Suzuki website in Adobe Flash. Adobe will end support for its Flash Player software in less than month.
I wonder how many of my students will install Flash to watch the 3:26 minute video in its original format? How do they compare this with the YouTube video that they watched via A6?
Note: the Adobe Flash website does have a long load time and a question at the beginning.
Critical thinkings helps one assess their goals and motivations; after so, this allows for the execution and as you stated, "put into practice what [he or she] learned."
ReplyDeleteI liked how you can zoom in or zoom out on David Suzuki while he was talking in the flash version. A6 was a tough one, and I am embarrassed I missed what I did regarding formatting lol.
ReplyDeleteA6 definitely involved critical thinking. After seeing the reviews on A6 in class, it was puzzling how I turned A6 into such a challenge, only if I would spent more time thinking out the assignment. Downloaded Adobe and all I seen was a black screen and listen to music, YouTube is very convenient.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you something . . . I am most definitely an overthinker and I definitely did that with this assignment. When we went over it in class it hit me just how much I was overthinking everything with this assignment. Critical thinking is key.
ReplyDeleteCritical thinking is an important skill in everyday life. A6 was definitely a change of pace from the previous assignments.
ReplyDeleteA6 does require critical thinking, I struggled on Q2 I am not really sure if I got the answer correct until I saw my classmates answers. Now I understand more of what critical thinking means.
ReplyDeleteA6 was difficult in ways because we were given a task and had to figure out some key aspects of our own. Youtube is far more convenient than using the original version.
ReplyDeleteReading this makes me nervous for A6! Its a very interesting video but I definetely didn't download flash.
