Inbox Management

Work, school, personal; contents of email inboxes have a way of expanding daily, hourly, or by each minute! To help my students manage their CSN Student Email inbox, I began working on a set of Inbox Rules to guide and encourage students in automatically move/file their IS101-related emails.

Anthony was the first student this past weekend to share with me what he has done. I will use this week to fine-tune the rule set and share with my students this coming Saturday :-)

The young man also propelled himself to the front of the class as he is now working on Week 3's projects when most students are on Week 2's coursework. Go Anthony go ^_^

  1. Before this class I had a junk email and a professional email but even with those two accounts my emails just piles up and feel overwhelmed and some days I just wanna go in and delete everything. I'm hoping that between now and the end of the semester that I can have all my email accounts nice and organized.

  2. Rules (a.k.a. filters) are one of the amazing creations of inboxes. It has truly assisted me immensely organizing my student email, especially from those CSN News emails. Personally, I believe it is so much easier to organize and customize your email account with Microsoft Office than Gmail. I'm still amazed why organizations, such as UNLV, would opt to use Google Suite instead of Microsoft Office, especially considering how powerful Office is with Outlook, OneNote, Teams, to name a few of the amazing features.

Microsoft Office > Google Suite ^_^

  3. Even though I have experience in IT, I overlooked the sorting features of email applications. This class has opened my eyes to how helpful this feature is. From now on, in work and in school, I will be using the sorting features in my email to sort all of my email. I usually receive 30 to 50 emails a day so this will be helpful to me. Thanks you Mr. Wu!

  4. Like others have mentioned, I never utilized the Inbox Rules in the different email applications I use. I can see where this can come in handy with my work e-mails as we get organizational announcements that really are not pertinent to my position and just clutter my inbox. I will definitely have to take some time out to work on setting rules for those e-mails to go elsewhere.

  7. This is the best email inbox tip for me up to date, honestly this my 1st and only email inbox tip. My CSN student email has been organized, and I have applied certain rules to my personal emails. This is the best kept email secret. Hats off to Anthony!

  9. Before I learned the tip for email rules, I always deleted my email or left it on Inbox. Now that i have learned how to use email rules I will definitely use it on my personal emails.
